reader skepticism by taking it head on.
(And actually used it to advantage!)
__Stauer is a company that sells jewelry, watches, art, coins, and more, via different media. They recently ran a full page ad offering a FREE pendant worth $179!
__Well, naturally readers will ask themselves, "How can they give away something for nothing? I don't trust them."

The copywriter of the ad understood this skepticism very well and disarmingly wrote . . .
__"Your first question is 'Why?' Why would any company give away sterling silver jewelry for FREE? It doesn't make sense. It sounds like a trick. There has to be a catch. Nobody else does this, right? Exactly. Nobody else does this. That's the point. Stauer isn't like anybody else and we can prove it."
__"I know this offer sounds too good to be true, but Stauer made it 'too good' for a reason. Once you get a look at the selection, stories, and stunning offers available from Stauer, we bet you'll be back." . . . . . . etc.
The point is, the copywriter effectively
dealt with the prospects' skepticism
and kept them reading, believing, and buying.
__So here's the takeaway . . .
__If you know your prospects are skeptical about what you're claiming or promising, don't be afraid.
__Your job is to anticipate their doubts, put those doubts to rest, make the sale, and walk away a winner.
